Rep. Abell offers an amendment to anti-firearm legislation, HB 1163, and speaks against the bill
Rep. Hunter Abell, R-Inchelium, acknowledges members of the National Guard and offers an amendment to exempt them from HB 1163, which is an anti-firearms bill. It requires a “permit to purchase” a firearm, which would require proof of taking a gun-safety course within the past five years, submission of fingerprints, and a lengthy and detailed background check. He points out that members of the National Guard already are required to do many of these things while serving our country and risking their lives to protect the very freedoms – the Second Amendment – that this bill infringes upon. And for such reasons should be exempt from the onerous requirements.
